What is Flasherz?

Flasherz is an educational flashcard app designed for kids ages 4 and up. It presents question-and-answer cards across a variety of topics like animals, dinosaurs, the solar system, the human body, and more. Kids tap to reveal answers, building knowledge through fun, bite-sized learning sessions.

Age Bands

Decks are organized by age-appropriate difficulty. When setting up a family profile, you choose an age band so your child sees content suited to them:

4-5 6-7 8-9 10-11 12+ All Ages

Family Profiles

Flasherz supports multiple family profiles, so each child can have their own experience with age-appropriate decks, speech preferences, and progress. Profiles are stored locally on the device.

Caregiver Controls

Settings that affect content and profiles are protected behind a caregiver gate. This simple challenge is designed to be easy for adults but prevents young children from changing settings on their own. From Caregiver Controls you can:

• Add, edit, or remove family profiles
• Assign age bands to each profile
• Choose which decks each profile can access
• Enable or disable text-to-speech per profile
• Select a preferred voice for each profile

Text-to-Speech

Flasherz includes a read-aloud feature using your device's built-in speech engine. Questions and answers can be spoken aloud, which is especially helpful for younger children who are still learning to read. All speech processing happens on-device — no audio data is sent to any server.

Privacy and Data

Flasherz is designed with your family's privacy in mind:

• No accounts or login required
• No personal information collected
• No ads
• No tracking or analytics
• Family profiles are stored only on your device
• The app fetches flashcard decks from our server (topic and question/answer content only)
• If the server is unavailable, built-in sample decks are used automatically

Tips for Parents

• Start with the age band that matches your child — you can always adjust later
• Enable text-to-speech for early readers (ages 4-6)
• Use the deck selector to focus on topics your child is curious about
• Create separate profiles for siblings so each gets their own experience
