What is workinOn?
A focused list of what you're working on right now. Type what's on your mind and the assistant manages the list — adding, removing, reordering — without forms or buttons.
Adding things
Type naturally in the chat box. For example:
- "working on the presentation, calling the electrician, and packing for the trip" — adds three items.
- "add: fix the auth bug" — adds one.
Removing things
- "remove the electrician"
- "drop item 2"
- "clear everything"
Reordering
- "move the presentation to the top"
- "the trip is more important"
Multiple lists
Tap the list name at the top of the screen to create, rename, or switch lists. Each list is independent — the AI works on the active list. Your home-screen widget and watch always show the active list.
Photos
Tap the camera icon next to any list item to attach up to 5 photos from your library. The first photo appears as a thumbnail in the home-screen widget.
The home-screen widget
Long-press your home screen → tap the + → search for workinOn → choose the Large size for the best view. The widget refreshes automatically when you change your list.
Apple Watch
workinOn includes a companion app for Apple Watch. Your list syncs automatically when you open the iPhone app.
- Browsing lists: Tap the list name at the top of the watch screen to open the list picker. Switching lists on the watch is local — it doesn't change your active list on the iPhone.
- Complications: Long-press your watch face → Edit → Complications → find workinOn. Four families are supported: Circular (count), Rectangular (list name + first item), Inline, and Corner.
- Severity tinting: The complication changes color based on the highest-severity status item — red for urgent, yellow for warning, blue for info.
Status items and severity
Other apps can post live keyed status items that pin to the top of your list (see Developer API). Each status item has a severity level shown as a colored dot:
- Blue dot — Info (default)
- Yellow dot — Warning
- Red dot — Urgent
Tap the dot to cycle through severity levels. The watch complication reflects the highest severity among all active status items.
Siri & Shortcuts
Try saying:
- "Hey Siri, add to workinOn"
- "Hey Siri, what's on my workinOn list"
- "Hey Siri, clear workinOn"
For automations and recipes, see the Shortcuts guide.
Adding from other apps
From any app — Safari, Notes, Messages — tap the Share button and choose Add to workinOn. The selected text or URL becomes a list item.
Tips
- Keep it under 10 items — this is for focus, not for planning your whole life.
- Just brain-dump whatever's on your mind — it sorts itself out.
- Context-press any item for options (remove, manage photos).
- Status items (pinned, from other apps) sit above your manual items.
- Tap a status item's colored dot to change its severity.
Privacy
Your list and AI chat stay on your device — Apple Intelligence (Foundation Models) runs locally. Voice dictation uses Apple's speech recognition service, which may process audio on Apple's servers; workinOn only receives the text result. Read the full privacy policy.
